Gross Motor Skills
Gross Motor Skills involve movements of the large muscles in our body - from our arms and legs to our core - they involve in essence whole body movement. They are important skills for children to develop not only to help with life functions such as walking, climbing steps / stairs and jumping but also they help children learn how to coordinate and control their body movements.
Our Wibble, Wobble, Spin is a fantastic package to help develop core gross motor skills and develop balance and body awareness. Suitable for children who are walking, this package has numerous sensory play elements that provide a mini workout for the children without them realising it.
Our package includes:
A large Rainbow Wobble / Balance Board - helping to promote good posture, aiding concentration, core strength and flexibility. It can also help regulate some children who have excessive movement needs.
A Dizzy Wizzy Spinner - hours of spinning joy that helps to improve a child's hand-eye coordination and can provide a sense of calm for some children.
A Peanut Ball - helps to improve dynamic balance, fine motor skills and can be used to apply deep pressure as a form of regulation.
Wobble Cushion and Hedgehogs - can increase focus when a child is sitting on them and engage the core muscles helping to improve stability.
Sensory Floor Tiles - foot / hand massaging floor tiles. A wide range of textures and colours to enhance imagination, improve blood circulation, promote flat-footedness correction and can reduce the effects of anxiety.
Star Fish Stepping Stones - help to promote balance and co-ordination while providing sensory feedback in the form of proprioceptive and auditory stimulation.
For a proportion of children with additional needs or disabilities, gross motor skills can be delayed or in some cases significantly delayed and professional help is required. There are some amazing children’s physiotherapists that through our parental journey, we have experience with. These companies have significantly helped our children and children we know including Manchester Children’s Physiotherapy and Children’s Physio North West.
