What is sensory play? What does My Sen Den offer?

Sensory play is any play activity that stimulates one or more of your child’s senses - hearing, taste, smell, sight, touch and movement or balance. On our journey as SEN parents, sensory play has been invaluable at helping our children navigate and make sense of the world around them and regulate their emotions. It has also been a key part of their therapy plans from both a Speech and Language perspective and Physio / OT in terms of promoting their fine and gross motor skills.

When we set up My Sen Den we wanted to ensure that we offered a breadth of packages that would tap into the different senses and promote social interaction and emotional regulation. We know from our journey that finding things our children will actually play with, or focus on, has been extremely difficult but hugely beneficial, once you find something that works. That’s why we created a number of packages that you can hire to your home to try a sensory play experience.

Our Den and Party Pod are great as either chill out / safe spaces or play zones, they come with fabulous glow equipment that not only stimulates sight and touch but also helps SEN children to understand cause and effect and increase their concentration on an activity. Our Glowtastic package is amazing for this too.

All our soft play has been made bespoke to include sensory elements for sight, touch and even sound. With different textured materials, squeaky sounds, fidget rings, tassels and even multi-coloured lights.

Our Wibble, Wobble, Spin package is excellent for promoting gross motor skills and core strength. Packed with movement and balance equipment that is super fun - the children wont even notice they are having a mini workout.

We have also brought sound to the forefront with our Add On Sound and Sense package and touch and fine motor with our Tuff Tray packages.
